Providing hope, gratitude, and support for children in need!
Today, we honor those families and offer a small piece of comfort—a reminder that they are not alone and that their sacrifices are seen, appreciated, and supported. While public officers are out keeping our communities safe, their families are also serving in their own way—navigating challenges and holding it together when their loved ones can’t be home. It’s not always easy, especially for the children, who feel that empty seat at the dinner table or hear the sirens and worry.
We’re building bears! Hero Bears are super soft bears that let the children of public officers know that we’re supporting them and are grateful for them. Each bear needs to be carefully stuffed, dressed and packed to make sure we can get the bears deployed as soon as possible. We thank you for joining us for this operation!
We work to keep things as simple as possible. If you have any questions, please get in touch with your event coordinator or reach out to “Kai” (WeHero Super Dog) in the lower-right corner of this page.
These little bears go to the children of our deployed troops; we bring the bears to life as soft, cuddly, friendly creatures. The most important thing is to open your stuffing prior to the activity, so the fluff can “breath.” It will double if not triple in size outside the packaging. We don't want it to expand inside your bear.Un-velcro the back of the bear and pull out the zipper mesh pocket. This will hold the stuffing!
The legs are slightly longer than the arms. Use two fingers to push a ball of fluff into each leg to plump them up.
Next, we give them something to sit on. Take up all the stuffing, and push this to where the bear has a little seat. Then stuff his stomach and the rest of the insides, giving him a little potbelly.Once stuffed, zip the pocket closed, push the zipper back inside the bear, and velcro closed.
We’ve provided white shirts and fabric markers for volunteers to personalize the bears. Make them extra special with your own creative touch!
One of the most important touches to the bears. The children who receive these bears will find great comfort and support with their new best friend. Inspire them!
A creative way to write to your recipient is from the point of view of the bear! Write the backstory – share about the bear and their journey to find a special best friend (and now they have found one)! Perhaps they traveled across the universe to find them- from outer space to the deepest ocean!
Use your imagination and bring joy to a child.Use the WeHero stationary to write them a short letter. It’s very impactful to know that someone is thinking of you.
Take a photo of yourself with your completed kits and share the experience with your friends and family. This is an opportunity to spread awareness and share the act of kindness. Be sure to tag WeHero when you post on social media!

Learn MoreWe build our volunteer events to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Whether it is offsetting the carbon emissions of the shipping process, using recycled cardboard for the boxes, or relying on algae based dyes, we’ve made conscious steps to ensure we’re doing right for our world.
We have partnered with Cool Effect on The Mare Chicose landfill project in Mauritius to reduce methane emissions, generate electricity, create jobs, and promote sustainable development. Investing in the project helps reduce our carbon footprint and support global climate change mitigation.
