Empowering Indigenous youth leaders through packs of care and support!
First and foremost,
thank you
Indigenous communities in Canada and America face many challenges. These communities have been historically marginalized and continue to suffer from the effects of colonization. Our nonprofit partner is committed to addressing these issues by empowering the next generation of Indigenous communities with the tools needed to overcome these obstacles. Through this event, we are learning to tackle issues such as poverty, the education divide, and discrimination that Indigenous communities face. We want to advocate for and preserve the cultural heritage and traditional knowledge of these communities, which are vital to their identity and well-being. Our vision is to create a brighter future for Indigenous youth by building a strong and resilient community that can thrive in the face of adversity.
The experience
Local Lift offers an experience that focuses on empowering Indigenous communities. We will be learning about the challenges these communities face and how we can become advocates for change! Our support packs are carefully curated to empower and encourage recipients on their journey towards achieving their potential. They go beyond just providing physical items - they provide emotional support and empower individuals and communities. With Local Lift, you can make a tangible difference in the lives of Indigenous communities and help create a brighter future for the next generation.

Step 1: Time to decorate the bag
Add a personal touch to each care package. Make them fun and colorful with the markers we've included for you. Draw pictures, write encouraging messages, and add your signature. Each package should be unique and special.
Note: Sharpies and other art items will bleed through the drawstring bag so we recommend putting a couple of sheets of paper inside the bag to prevent any mess.
Step 2: Add all the items to each bag
The inventory below lists each item that goes into the package. Please ensure that each package has all the necessary items.

Step 3: Letter writing
One of the most important touches to the care packages is the personal note. Write a short message of encouragement to the recipient. You have the power to make a difference! Your words can inspire and uplift the next generation of indigenous leaders and entrepreneurs. Take a moment to think about how you can encourage your recipient to believe in themselves and their dreams. Your note can make all the difference, so let your creativity flow!

Step 4: Re-box and apply the shipping label
Using the original box everything came in, add the completed kits and reseal. Attach the prepaid shipping label and schedule your USPS pickup. You can also drop your box off at your local post office. To schedule your pickup, simply use the following link and follow the steps: www.wehero.co/pick-up/
Note: If the system asks for weight, you can enter 6 pounds and the shipping provider will update the weight automatically.
Step 5: Photo time
Take a photo of yourself with your completed packs and share the experience with your friends and family. Use the opportunity to spread awareness and share this act of kindness. Be sure to tag WeHero when you post on social media!

How We Offset Our Carbon Footprint
We have partnered with Cool Effect on The Mare Chicose landfill project in Mauritius to reduce methane emissions, generate electricity, create jobs, and promote sustainable development. Investing in the project helps reduce our carbon footprint and support global climate change mitigation.
Recycling is hard so we made it easier!
We build our volunteer events to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Whether it is offsetting the carbon emissions of the shipping process, using recycled cardboard for the boxes, or relying on algae based dyes, we’ve made conscious steps to ensure we’re doing right for our world.
