Thank you. Your gift of time today will impact the lives of children excited to have education in their lives to chase their dreams and work to make the world we share a better place. Millions of children come from families struggling with extreme poverty worldwide. If these students are lucky enough to attend school, they often don’t have the resources to purchase the necessary school supplies. WeHero, alongside our corporate and non-profit partners, are aggressively trying to resolve this issue. We are sourcing the essential supplies to help these students succeed in the classroom and create equal opportunities for those underserved.
The experience
This event delivers support in two key areas:
1. Partnering with school districts and local government agencies to ensure that the sixteen million children who rely on schools to access educational materials have supplies outside the classroom.
2. Generating awareness around gaps in education and how education is one of the most important factors for creating social equality.
Today, you’ll be putting together education access packs for students. The supplies you provide are difficult to procure in the areas they’re going to or unaffordable for families to buy.The packs are designed to be fun and to inspire kids! You’ll add your own touch and message to each pack you produce, draw fun pictures on the bags, and leave letters of encouragement for the kids. The most powerful aspects of these packs are the drawings on the bags and the letters you enclose. These notes inspire children by showing them that someone in their local community or across the globe is thinking of them and has given them a very special pack to take to school.

Step 1: Time to decorate the bag
Kids have a tough time staying in school. Inspire them! Make the bags fun with the sharpies we’ve included for you. Pictures, quotes, and your signature are all welcome on the bag. They make each pack different and unique. We can’t wait to see what you create!
Note: Sharpies and other art items will bleed through the drawstring bag so we recommend putting a couple of sheets of paper inside the bag to prevent any mess.
Step 2: Add all the items to each bag
The inventory list below states each item that needs to go into the bag. Please put the pencils in the pencil bag. The sharpies are yours to keep and don’t need to go into the bags.

Step 3: Letter writing
One of the most important touches to the packs. The children who will receive these packs may not have the support needed to stay in school; without that, it’s easy to give up. Inspire them. Use the WeHero letter to write them a short letter. Encourage them to study and keep working to achieve their dreams. It’s very impactful to know that someone is thinking of you.

Step 4: Re-box and apply the shipping label
Using the original box everything came in, add the completed kits and reseal. Attach the prepaid shipping label and schedule your USPS pickup. You can also drop your box off at your local post office. To schedule your pickup, simply use the following link and follow the steps: www.wehero.co/pick-up/
Note: If the system asks for weight, you can enter 6 pounds and the shipping provider will update the weight automatically.
For group shipments, please refer to the instructions set out by your team lead.
Step 5: Photo time
Take a photo of yourself with your completed packs and share the experience with your friends and family. Use the opportunity to spread awareness and share this act of kindness. Be sure to tag #wehero when you post on social media!

How We Offset Our Carbon Footprint
We have partnered with Cool Effect on The Mare Chicose landfill project in Mauritius to reduce methane emissions, generate electricity, create jobs, and promote sustainable development. Investing in the project helps reduce our carbon footprint and support global climate change mitigation.
Recycling is hard so we made it easier!
We build our volunteer events to be as environmentally friendly as possible. Whether it is offsetting the carbon emissions of the shipping process, using recycled cardboard for the boxes, or relying on algae based dyes, we’ve made conscious steps to ensure we’re doing right for our world.
